Wood ageing
Thermo Clear Pine, like all heat-treated woods, evolves naturally when exposed to the elements. Over time, its initial warm colour fades to an ash-grey patina.
This ageing is mainly due to exposure to UV rays and bad weather, The speed of this process varies according to climatic conditions and the intensity of exposure. However, this aesthetic evolution does not affect its structural properties or durability, which remain intact thanks to the heat treatment.
For those who wish to retain the original colour of Thermo Clear Pine, we recommend applying a protective oil with a UV filter, renewed regularly, usually once a year. Without maintenance, the wood will develop a natural patina, giving it an elegant, even silver appearance.

Treatment process
Applying Kebony®
Kebony uses a patented modification process called furfurylation.
Furfurylation uses a biological liquid called furfuryl alcohol, derived from agricultural plant waste. Furfuryl alcohol is injected into the sapwood cells and, when combined with heat, bonds permanently, transforming softwood into hardwood. Although chemicals are used, the product is non-toxic, both during and after service.
