"Wood with exceptional durability"

Clear wood and clean

Wood ageing

Accoya® develops a silvery-grey patina when exposed to UV rays and the elements, like any natural wood without surface treatment. This process is purely aesthetic and in no way affects its durability or structural performance.

If you want to preserve its original appearance, it is advisable to apply a protective finish with a UV filter, and to maintain it regularly. Untreated, Accoya® transforms naturally while remaining stable and resistant, even under the most demanding climatic conditions.

Sustainable procurement

Produced from FSC®-certified plantations, Accoya guarantees wood from responsibly managed resources, combining quality with respect for the environment.

Exceptional stability

Thanks to its average tangential stability coefficient of just 1.5 Accoya is one of the most stable woods in the world, resisting deformation due to climatic variations.

Timeless elegance

With its clear appearance and fine grain, Accoya fits perfectly into design projects, modern and minimalist projects, adding a touch of refined elegance.

Treatment process

Accoya is a wood modified by a process called acetylation, an advanced method of chemically treating wood.
The acetylation process:

Chemical principle: Acetylation chemically modifies the hydroxyl (OH) groups naturally present in wood, replacing them with acetyl groups. This process considerably reduces the wood’s ability to absorb moisture.

Material used: Generally applied to softwoods such as radiata pine, This treatment requires no toxic products or heavy metals.
Environmentally friendly: The acetic acid used in the process is non-toxic, and Accoya often comes from FSC®-certified forests.
Treatment results:
Exceptional durability: Accoya is extremely resistant to mould, insects and rot, with a guaranteed lifespan of up to 50 years.
Dimensional stability: Wood is much less prone to swelling, shrinking or warping, making it ideal for demanding applications.

Applying Kebony®

Kebony uses a patented modification process called furfurylation.
Furfurylation uses a biological liquid called furfuryl alcohol, derived from agricultural plant waste. Furfuryl alcohol is injected into the sapwood cells and, when combined with heat, bonds permanently, transforming softwood into hardwood. Although chemicals are used, the product is non-toxic, both during and after service.
