Wood ageing
MOSO® N-durance ages naturally as a result of exposure to the elements, but has specific characteristics due to its treatment. Here’s how it changes over time:
Change of colour:
Initially, MOSO® N-durance has a warm colour obtained through heat treatment. With exposure to UV rays and the elements, it develops a uniform, elegant silver-grey patina, similar to that of wood.
Unchanged durability and stability:
Ageing is mainly aesthetic and does not affect the material ‘s performance. Thanks to its heat treatment and high density, it remains dimensionally stable, without cracking or warping.
Optional maintenance:
To preserve the original colour, regular application of oil or UV protection is recommended. If no maintenance is carried out, the natural silver-grey colour will gradually set in , which is highly appreciated in modern projects. MOSO® N-durance therefore combines durability, stability, and aesthetic ageing that can be customised to suit individual preferences.
MOSO® N-durance is made from MOSO® bamboo, a fast-growing natural resource, transformed using a cutting-edge process to produce a sustainable and environmentally friendly material.
Sustainable performance
Thanks to its advanced heat treatment , MOSO® N-durance guarantees exceptional resistance to weathering, moisture and insects, while maintaining outstanding dimensional stability.
Adaptable and elegant design
Initially dark brown, MOSO® N-durance develops a modern, even silver-grey patina over time, ideal for contemporary, durable and elegant exterior projects.
Treatment process
Applying Kebony®
Kebony uses a patented modification process called furfurylation.
Furfurylation uses a biological liquid called furfuryl alcohol, derived from agricultural plant waste. Furfuryl alcohol is injected into the sapwood cells and, when combined with heat, bonds permanently, transforming softwood into hardwood. Although chemicals are used, the product is non-toxic, both during and after service.
