Wood ageing
Over time, the surface of Thermofrêne naturally changes to an elegant silver hue. This change begins soon after installation and progresses slowly, influenced by exposure to UV rays and local climatic conditions. This even patina, typical of quality wood, in no way affects the strength or durability of the boards.
To preserve the original appearance and warm colour of Thermofrêne, it is advisable to apply a suitable protective oil every year. Note , however, that this ageing process is a natural and unavoidable aesthetic natural and unavoidable for wood exposed outdoors.

Treatment process
Applying Kebony®
Kebony uses a patented modification process called furfurylation.
Furfurylation uses a biological liquid called furfuryl alcohol, derived from agricultural plant waste. Furfuryl alcohol is injected into the sapwood cells and, when combined with heat, bonds permanently, transforming softwood into hardwood. Although chemicals are used, the product is non-toxic, both during and after service.
