Wood ageing
As with any natural wood, the surface of Thermopin develops a beautiful, even, silvery-grey patina over time. This process begins as soon as it is installed and can last from several months to several years, depending on exposure to UV rays. This aesthetic transformation in no way affects the durability of the boards.
To preserve the original colour of Thermopin, we recommend applying a suitable protective oil once a year.
with its natural charm
Our Thermopin planks have beautiful, distinctive knots, giving an authentic, warm look to your projects while maintaining a pleasant feel.
European origin
light and insulating
Thanks to its low density, Thermopin offers excellent insulation properties, ideal for improving thermal comfort in all regions.
Treatment process
Applying Kebony®
Kebony uses a patented modification process called furfurylation.
Furfurylation uses a biological liquid called furfuryl alcohol, derived from agricultural plant waste. Furfuryl alcohol is injected into the sapwood cells and, when combined with heat, bonds permanently, transforming softwood into hardwood. Although chemicals are used, the product is non-toxic, both during and after service.
