Clear Pine: the purity of thermally treated radiata pine, designed for exceptional facades.
Naturally knot-free and thermally treated at high temperature without any chemicals, this plantation pine offers a surface of rare homogeneity — for contemporary, clean, and durable cladding.

Knot-free, no compromise

  • Naturally knot-free: Radiata pine is an inherently knot-free species — an intrinsic quality, not the result of sorting. Each board reveals a fine and regular grain, for a perfectly homogeneous finish across the entire facade.
  • Enhanced dimensional stability: Thermal treatment profoundly transforms the wood's structure, significantly reducing its hygroscopicity — boards remain perfectly flat season after season, with no perceptible shrinkage or swelling.
  • Healthy wood, chemical-free: The treatment adds no chemicals, no additives — it simply transforms the wood's natural fibers using heat and steam. A clean material for installation, clean on the facade, clean at the end of its life.
  • Fast and clean installation: Compatible with the Grad® system, clip fastening ensures installation without visible screws, a perfectly aligned finish — boards can be unclipped and repositioned without damage if necessary.
  • FSC-certified plantation wood: Radiata pine is grown in sustainably managed, FSC-certified, fast-growing plantations — a low-impact renewable resource, a direct alternative to rare tropical woods.

Wood aging

Upon installation, Clear Pine exhibits a bright and homogeneous golden-brown hue, which its natural knot-free quality makes particularly regular. Its fine grain and smooth surface give it an immediately contemporary architectural appearance.
Under the action of UV and rain, the board evolves towards a natural silvery grey — a transformation that can occur in as little as six months depending on the level of exposure, in a uniform and controlled manner.
Preserving the initial hue
Due to its porous nature, it is recommended to treat all four sides of Clear Pine with a penetrating UV-protective oil before installation — this protection preserves the original golden hue and ensures homogeneous aging.
Routine maintenance
Periodic cleaning is sufficient to maintain the surface appearance. No chemical preservation treatment is necessary — Clear Pine’s durability is achieved through thermal transformation, not by surface application.
Allowing to age naturally
If a silvery patina is desired, a clear oil applied as a base protection before installation helps to ensure uniform greying — including on less exposed areas, for a consistent result across the entire facade.

Superior quality, very few knots

Radiata pine naturally has very few knots: a pure and regular grain, without selection or compromise.

Natural thermal treatment

Heat and steam profoundly transform the wood at 215°C: chemical-free, residue-free, no compromise.

PEFC plantation wood

Radiata pine grown in PEFC-certified plantations: renewable resource, direct alternative to tropical woods.

Treatment process

Thermory Clear Pine is made from radiata pine subjected to Thermory’s intense thermal treatment process, using only heat and steam, without any chemicals. The wood’s moisture level is first reduced to 0% over a period of 35 to 46 hours, then the temperature is raised to the required level before the wood is cooled and misted. For Clear Pine, intended for outdoor use, the intense thermal treatment raises the maximum temperature to at least 215 °C. This process triggers physical and chemical reactions in the wood: its moisture absorption capacity decreases, making the wood less prone to swelling and shrinkage, while its biological resistance increases. Thermal modification thus improves the dimensional stability of radiata pine and gives it durability, allowing it to resist rot, while also giving it a beautiful golden-brown hue and a profile with very few knots, enhancing the wood’s natural grain.
