Tested and certified products

At Grad, safety is a priority. The SBI (Single Burning Item) test allows us to accurately assess the fire behavior of our products in real fire conditions. This test, compliant with European standards, measures flame spread, smoke production, and any falling burning debris. By conducting it, we not only guarantee the regulatory compliance of our solutions but also better safety for end-users, by anticipating fire-related risks from the product design stage.

Understanding the SBI test

The test aims to simulate the start of a fire with a small flame source. It allows for the evaluation of:

– Flame spread

– Heat release

– Smoke production

– Falling burning debris

The cladding sample is mounted at an angle. A small gas flame is applied to a corner for 20 minutes.

Measurements taken include:

THR600s (Total Heat Release in 600 seconds).

This test aims to measure the total amount of heat released by the material during the first 10 minutes of the test.

FIGRA (Fire Growth Rate Index), which measures the speed at which fire spreads on the material.

SMOGRA (Smoke Growth Rate Index), which measures the speed of smoke production during combustion.

The amount of smoke and burning droplets or particles.

The measurement of these various elements results in a rating composed of numbers and letters, as shown in the example of our thermo-spruce 26/140 boards.

B – s1, d0

Reaction to fire

A = non-combustible

F = no performance detected

Burning droplets/particles (d0, d1, d2)

d0 = no burning droplets

d2 = numerous droplets

Smoke production (s1, s2, s3)

s1 = little smoke

s3 = a lot of smoke

Innovation for safety: the Pyroclip

The Pyroclip is an innovative evolution of the Grad® clip to improve the fire reaction of your cladding. It offers durable panel holding over time and against fires, while presenting mechanical performance superior to the minimum values required by standards.

The result of extensive R&D work, the Pyroclip follows the same philosophy as the Grad® clip. Industrially pre-assembled on non-combustible aluminum profiles, it allows for both incomparable installation speed and perfect finishes.
