Maidla Nature Resort

Built in 2020 on stilts, the main building unfolds at the border between forest and bog to cope with unstable ground and the risk of seasonal flooding. Its triangular shape and multi-level terraces give the impression that it gradually rises amidst the trees, like an organic structure integrated into the surrounding nature.

Harmony between modern comfort and nature

The project’s objective was to create modern and comfortable accommodation, inspired by the spirit of nature without dominating it. Guests can thus enjoy a calm and soothing stay, surrounded by the preserved landscapes of Estonia’s wetlands while benefiting from the amenities expected of a high-end resort.

To meet the aesthetic and environmental requirements of the project, the Grad® system was chosen for the exterior cladding, combined with Thermory® Thermo-ash wood. This combination allowed for a facade that is discreet, warm, and durable, visually blending into the landscape while offering good resistance to the local climate. The Grad® invisible fastening system contributed to achieving clean lines and perfect integration of the wood, thus reinforcing the impression that the building “almost vanishes into the heart of nature”.

The Maidla Nature Resort thus offers a unique immersive experience: travelers stay in a place that prioritizes silence, contemplation of the landscape, and direct contact with the natural environment. This exceptional setting, combined with thoughtful architecture and materials chosen for their natural aesthetics, makes this project a benchmark for architectural integration in a fragile ecological context.
