LEMAHIEU®-LDCwood®

The leading ThermoWood® producer in the Benelux, rooted in a century of expertise

Born in Belgium from the meeting of two complementary timber importers, Lemahieu Group, a specialist in softwood and processing, and Decolvenaere, an importer of African timber for five generations, LDCwood was founded to develop a high-quality thermo-modification sector in the Belgian market. Since its creation, it has established itself as the first and only official ThermoWood® producer in the Benelux, a member of the International ThermoWood Association. Today, fully integrated into the Lemahieu group, it capitalizes on over a century of expertise in timber.

Species

Thermopine: the rustic charm of Nordic pine enhanced by heat

Thermopine stands out with its warm golden-brown hue and characteristic darker knots, a visual signature of Nordic Scots pine after thermal modification. Sourced from Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) from sustainably managed forests, this intense thermal treatment at 215 °C, using steam and no chemicals, profoundly transforms its molecular structure to give it biological durability class 2 and exceptional dimensional stability, rivalling noble species while retaining the rustic and warm character inherent to pine.

Thermoépicéa: the lightness of Nordic spruce elevated to the rank of durable material

Thermoépicéa stands out with its warm golden-brown hue and fine, regular knots, a visual signature of Scandinavian spruce after thermal modification. Sourced from spruce from sustainably managed forests, this intense thermal treatment at 215 °C, using steam and no chemicals, profoundly transforms its molecular structure to give it biological durability class 1 and exceptional dimensional stability, making this lightweight and easy-to-work softwood a facade material with remarkable performance.

Thermofrêne: the noble grain of ash enhanced by heat

Thermofrêne stands out with its rich dark brown hue and its distinct and elegant grain, a visual signature of European ash after thermal modification. Sourced from ash from sustainably managed forests, this intense thermal treatment with steam and no chemicals profoundly transforms its molecular structure to give it durability comparable to exotic hardwoods and exceptional dimensional stability, making this dense and veined hardwood a premium ecological alternative to ipe or teak.

Accoya Natural, the benchmark for performance and stability

Accoya® Natural is an acetylated solid wood offering exceptional dimensional stability and Class 1 durability. Thanks to its patented process without the addition of toxic substances, it durably resists moisture, insects, and rot while retaining the authentic appearance of natural wood. Its excellent long-term performance makes it an ideal solution for the most demanding decks, facades, and outdoor installations.

Accoya Color Grey, the elegance of durable grey

Accoya® Color Grey combines the exceptional performance of Accoya with a grey tint integrated throughout the thickness of the wood. Mass-coloured using a non-toxic process, it maintains a homogeneous appearance over time, without flaking or regular maintenance. Its dimensional stability and Class 1 durability make it an ideal solution for contemporary decks and facades.

Behind every LDCwood board, one of Europe's most efficient industrial tools.

Drawing on the Finnish thermo-modification technique — the global benchmark for modified wood — LDCwood transforms carefully selected species to create durable, stable, and aesthetic materials, suitable for the most demanding outdoor applications. Its own production, supported by the 6 kilns at the Ostend site, allows it to guarantee constant stock levels and high commercial responsiveness.

At Grad®, we distribute the LDCwood® ranges dedicated to decking and cladding — appreciated for the richness of their species, the regularity of their treatment, and their optimal compatibility with our invisible fastening systems.

Two industrial requirements, a common logic

LDCwood’s mastery of thermo-modification ensures high dimensional stability and intrinsic durability — two essential qualities for the performance of our invisible fastening systems. Boards that don’t move mean an installation that lasts over time.

Beyond the technique, this partnership combines two rigorous industrial approaches: LDCwood produces in Belgium, with full raw material traceability and recognized certifications. A coherence of values that naturally aligns with the Grad® approach.
