MOSO® Bamboo X-Treme®

MOSO® X-TREME®: the performance of tropical woods, without their drawbacks.
Made from thermo-densified Moso bamboo, it is an exceptional, durable and stable outdoor board for decking, cladding and soffits.

MOSO® X-Treme®: density, stability, longevity. Without compromise.

  • Exceptional resistance. Density of 1150 kg/m³ and Brinell hardness of 9.5 kg/mm² — a robustness that rivals the best hardwoods, for intensive outdoor use even in demanding climatic conditions.
  • Exceptional stability. The exclusive ThermoDensity® process permanently modifies the cellular structure of bamboo: shrinkage, swelling, and deformation are greatly reduced. The board remains flat over time.
  • Quick and clean installation. Compatible with the Grad® system, clip fastening on an aluminum substructure ensures installation without visible screws, a perfectly aligned finish, and an even distribution of forces (275 kg per fastening zone).

  • A 100% renewable resource. Moso bamboo grows up to 1 meter per day and regenerates naturally after harvest, without replanting. A concrete ecological alternative to tropical woods.

Wood aging and maintenance

Upon installation, the board displays an intense chocolate brown hue, achieved through thermal treatment and Sikkens finish. Under the progressive action of UV rays and climatic cycles, the material begins a silent transformation towards a uniform silver-grey, this noble patina that architects seek in high-quality natural materials.

Routine maintenance
MOSO® X-Treme® is designed to require minimal maintenance. Periodic cleaning with a carbon-silica brush or a single brush is sufficient to maintain the surface appearance. No chemical treatment is necessary to preserve the material’s performance; its durability is intrinsic, not surface-applied.

Maintaining the initial color
For pre-oiled boards, annual maintenance with Woca products is recommended. For unfinished boards, the application of a water-based oil or a suitable saturator is advised upon installation.

Allowing to age naturally
If the grey patina is desired, no treatment is required. The appearance remains stable once the final hue is reached — without intervention, without constraint.

The ThermoDensity® process, the technology that makes Bamboo X-treme a unique material

The ThermoDensity® process is based on two complementary steps. A thermal treatment at 200°C eliminates the sugar molecules naturally present in raw bamboo — thus removing any food source for fungi and microorganisms. The lamellae are then compressed to very high density: dimensional stability increases by nearly 50%, and the final hardness exceeds that of any hardwood. A patented process. A measurable performance.
